Acquaviva delle Fonti (Apulia, BA) – Nordkapp
The Journey
23/08/24, 9:45 AM,after 6,562 km, I reach my destination: NORDKAPP
Crossing almost all of Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and the entirety of Norway.
Arriving at North Cape feels like a pilgrimage toward the soul of the world a journey that begins not only from my hometown, but from the very heart of the one who sets out.
My hometown, the place that witnessed my first steps, holds within it all the roots that have nourished me. Yet there comes a moment when you feel the call of the unknown, of the vast, of the distant.
As you move away, you leave behind familiar streets, friends, and the comfort of habits. Each kilometer brings you closer to a new dimension, where the landscape becomes increasingly sparse and essential, mirroring your inner journey.
Mountains flatten into wide plateaus, forests thin out until they give way to silent, bare tundra. Even the sun itself reshapes time, altering the rhythm of the days.
Arriving at North Cape, with its cliffs plunging into the sea, is not simply the end of a route, but the beginning of a transformation.
Here, where the land meets the infinite, you realize that the journey has been a metaphor for life itself: a constant alternation of light and shadow, of ascents and descents, of uncertainty and discovery. And as you stand there, facing the deep sea, the wind takes your breath away, speaking of even more distant lands and endless horizons and you understand that you are no longer the same person.
North Cape welcomes you with its vastness, and at the same time, with an unexpected intimacy. It is an extreme point, yet also a return to origins to that primordial purity that existed before any journey.
Here, you reconcile with your essence, with your story, and you understand that the true arrival is not a physical place, but the awareness of who you have become.
North Cape is more than a destination it is a symbol of the journey of life, a path that takes shape with every step, every breath. Reaching it feels like finding meaning, a thread that ties together all the emotions experienced along the way.
It is a place that speaks of solitude and freedom of the solitary traveler who, even while walking alone, still feels the warmth of those who supported him.
A solitary journey, yes but with a heart full of the love of those who accompanied me from afar. Life, after all, is a journey we walk alone, yet in moments like these I understand how deeply it is shaped by those who have reached out to me along the way.
It is a feeling of immense gratitude for what I have achieved, for the people who believed in me and made this journey possible.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making all of this possible.
